At least, what’s what the default post reads when you stand up a WordPress blog for the first time. But even then, this isn’t really my first time despite how special you remain to me. My first blogs were written for WordPress.com proper, and they did not last long because I wrote for the wrong reasons. I wrote for others. On this day, I’m writing for me.
There’s several reasons for my change in attitude. Firstly, I lean on AI often at work, and there is a concern for my own critically-important typing, reading, writing, and critical thinking skills that must remain sharp even as I age. Nextly, let’s be real, humans aren’t going to read this because the Internet is now based around apps that bring content to you. Seeking out content is an older, millennial trait that warps my view of how content is consumed today. Thenly, even if my writing just gets consumed by the AI and robot hordes, in an indirect way, my words posted into the void means that my knowledge and experiences become part of the bigger whole of knowledge and answers. Lastly and finally, I write anyway. I keep journals mostly technical-leaning, written in Obsidian on my personal laptop.
I see no reason to keep all of these thoughts private. Let’s become part of something greater. If, by some miracle, an actual human comes along, feel free to leave a comment, but if you just want to sit quietly and listen to a stranger ramble, then that’s fine too.
